Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Water Resources Engineer in Orlando, FL to join our Water Resources Team. This entry-level position focuses on hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, drafting, data analysis, and contributing to client proposals and presentations.

You will work on stormwater design, drainage studies, and regulatory studies while developing technical writing and CAD skills under supervision. ABET-certified civil engineering education is preferred.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years in a related technical field
• Completion of B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, ABET-accredited
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in CAD/Drafting and Microsoft Office tools

Responsibilities

• Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for planning and design of stormwater facilities and drainage projects.
• Conduct feasibility research on design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates and technical reports/memorandums.
• Coordinate with engineers and support staff within and outside the discipline.
• Assist in client proposals and presentations.
• Perform routine drafting and CAD assignments and data analysis.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Orlando, FL.

Your Role

• Develops hydrologic and hydraulic models, which will be used for the planning and design of stormwater management facilities, technical drainage studies, FEMA letters and reports, transportation drainage projects, or other projects.
• Conducts research on the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Performs various routine drafting and CAD assignments.
• Performs data analysis and/or data processing using ArcGIS
• Assists in the preparation and development of client proposals and presentations.
• Assists in drainage design which includes storm drain systems, pond design, culvert analysis and bridge hydraulic analysis.
• Prepare cost estimates and technical reports and memorandums.
• Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
• May coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.
• May perform other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary from time to time.

About You

• EXPERIENCE: 0-2 years experience in a related technical field
• EDUCATION: Completion of B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university, preferably with a focus in water resources.
• SPECIAL SKILLS:
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capability to develop technical writings and reports
  • Drafting / CAD ability is desired
  • Math skills to perform calculations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Excel
  • Experience and familiarity with the following programs are a plus: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ICPR, Stormwise, EPA-SWMM, GIS, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS: Registered EI or EIT (preferred)

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $75,000 - $85,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
