Job summary

The City of Billings is seeking a Water Reclamation Facility Technician III to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment, pumping and storage systems and related equipment. The role involves complex repairs and adjustments to equipment, machinery, structures, and grounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Class 1C Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate issued by the State of Montana or must be obtained within one year of employment
• City of Billings Maintenance Certification Program must be completed within four years of employment
• Must be able to wear an air-purifying respirator for 80% of the shift
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and background checks

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment processes using operating theory and procedures.
• Use HMI software and SCADA systems to monitor, adjust processes and diagnose problems.
• Perform calibrations and quality control analyses on monitoring equipment.
• Prepare operational logs and reports.
• Handle chemicals according to safety procedures and operate equipment safely in hazardous environments.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on pumps, piping, and mechanical systems.
