Position Overview

Reports and collaborates with the Water Quality Supervisor and requires minimal guidance on performing assigned tasks. This position will primarily address special projects in water distribution systems and troubleshoot both existing and potential water quality issues.
Essential Job Functions
- Reports to and collaborates with the Water Quality Supervisor
- Review and inventory water distribution system maps for all districts, including the use of GIS
- Optimize routes for dead end flushing in each district
- Optimize NAP sampling in each monochloramine district
- Assist Water Quality Supervisor in analyzing nitrification results from laboratories and field data to determine best course of action to pursue
- Possess knowledge to identify and trace path of nitrification until source is found
- Assist Water Quality Supervisor with administering Special Assignment Operators work resources
- Assist Water Quality Supervisor with monitoring phosphate, nitrification and residual collection and analysis of lab and field data and assist in the implementation of plans to address related concerns
- Coordinate and organize initial flushing and/or directional flushing of new sections in districts with contractors and Special Assignment Operators
- Perform data management of water quality data in database
- Participate in and administer training on correct flushing procedures and collecting and analyzing chlorine residuals to Special Assignment Operators as directed by the Water Quality Supervisor
- Assist in coordination of water quality compliance in assigned areas and assist staff with complex issues in distribution system
- Attend TCEQ drinking water quality complaint investigations
- Possess excellent time management, organizational skills and communication skills
- Demonstrate personal accountability through the effective use of resources in daily procedures, processes, and practices
Education And Experience Requirements
- High School or GED
- Minimum “D” Water Certification issued by the TCEQ
- 3 or more years of experience in the water industry with water quality experience preferred
- Good Driving Record

- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to analyze data and prepare clear and concise records, reports, and correspondence
- Ability to learn and effectively navigate processes using the software used in the various departments
- Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and be detail oriented while working to successfully meet deadlines
- Must be able to interact with customers easily and professionally
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift items weighing approximately 50 lbs.
- Subject to exposure to dust, fumes, vibrations, noise, and dirty working conditions
- Work Environment: Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds)
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous tasks under varying weather conditions
