Job summary

Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is an employee-owned environmental consulting firm seeking an Environmental Scientist with a focus on water quality and watershed science. The role requires 5+ years of experience and Florida freshwater and estuarine system knowledge.

This exempt, full-time position offers a hybrid schedule (2–3 days/week) from Tampa and/or Orlando offices, with potential relocation consideration within Florida.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ecology, environmental science, hydrology, water resources, or a related natural science field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting or applied ecological science.
• Knowledge of water quality data analysis, including data compilation, QA/QC, statistical modeling, hydrologic/water quality data evaluation, and geospatial evaluation of watershed conditions.

Responsibilities

• Apply quantitative and ecological expertise to support a wide range of environmental and water resource projects.
• Work as a data scientist, including compilation and analysis of water quality and hydrologic data, to assist clients in decision-making related to pollution controls in coastal and freshwater environments.
• Lead or support watershed evaluations, source water protection, ecosystem restoration, and regulatory compliance projects.
• Prepare technical materials describing methods and results of evaluations for environmental management decisions or permit applications.
• Understand and apply environmental regulations relevant to Florida, including Clean Water Act programs.
• Support and lead project management tasks, including scope and budget development and schedule tracking.
• Present technical information to internal teams and clients.
• Support business development through technical input on proposals and budgets.
• Participate in conferences and networking events.
