Job summary

Environmental Science Associates (ESA) seeks an Environmental Scientist focused on water quality and watershed science to join our Southeast team. This junior-level role requires 2+ years applying quantitative methods to ecological data in Florida’s freshwater systems, with hybrid work from Tampa and/or Orlando offices.

You will analyze data, support regulatory evaluations, and contribute to technical documents and memos.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting or applied ecological science.
• Knowledge of water quality data analysis, QA/QC, and dataset integration.
• Experience with hydrologic/hydrologic and water quality data evaluation and regulatory considerations.

Responsibilities

• Work as a data scientist: compile and analyze water quality and hydrologic data for clients.
• Support watershed evaluations, source water protection, ecosystem restoration, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop technical materials describing methods and results of evaluations for decision making.
• Digest Florida environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, NPDES, TMDLs, BMAPs, etc.).
• Collaborate in a team culture and communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
• Participate in conferences, workshops, or networking events as appropriate.
• Deliver assignments on time and within budget.
• Balance multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
