Job summary

City of Cedar Rapids seeks a detail-oriented Lab Services Water Quality Analyst to perform environmental monitoring and analytical testing that supports safe drinking water and wastewater treatment.

The role covers sample collection, lab analysis, data entry in LIMS, and QA/QC documentation under general supervision, with a Mon–Fri schedule and rotating weekends/holidays. The City values public health and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Two years of post High School education in chemistry, biology or general science and a minimum of one year experience in analytical laboratory procedures preferably in the field of water quality analyses.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

• Participates in sampling program assignments and delivers samples to the designated laboratory for processing.
• Performs analytical determinations, physical measurements and bacteriological assays.
• Maintains records and QA/QC protocols; enters daily data into LIMS; supports process improvement initiatives.
