Job summary

City of DeLand is seeking an entry level Water/Wastewater Lab Technician to perform basic laboratory operations and field sampling under the Chief Environmental Chemist. Work includes analysis in a NELAP Certified Laboratory and customer contact.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, preparing reagents, sampling diverse matrices, and maintaining lab inventory. Requires a degree in chemistry, biology, or environmental science and a valid FL driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Science or related field required.
• Equivalent combination of education and training may be considered.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine field sampling and analysis under supervision.
• Conducts technical work in a NELAP Certified Laboratory.
• Sets up and adjusts laboratory apparatus.
• Assists in preparing reagents for bacteriological and chemical analyses.
• Analyzes drinking water, wastewater, sludge, and groundwater samples.
• Maintains laboratory inventory and prepares reports.
