Job summary

Middlesex Water Company is seeking a Laboratory Technician to conduct physical, chemical and bacteriological tests in water quality. You will collect samples, perform analyses, maintain equipment and records, and participate in on-call duties including weekends.

Qualified candidates will have two years of lab experience, certification progress, and an Associate’s degree in biology or chemistry preferred. The role requires attention to safety, accuracy, and compliance with EPA standards.

Qualifications

• Two years laboratory experience required.
• Must obtain Delaware Approved Sampler/tester Certification within three months from date of hire.
• Ability to obtain Delaware Water Supply Operator License within two years from date of hire.
• Attend training to maintain license.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical, chemical and bacteriological tests in water quality and wastewater treatment.
• Independently collect samples at treatment plant and distribution system.
• Conduct investigations in all areas of water quality and maintain lab records.
• Prepare laboratory media and reagents.
• Maintain lab equipment and calibration records.
• Perform on-call duties including weekends.
• Assist in training.
