Job summary

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets seeks an Agriculture Water Quality Program Coordinator to administer grants and contracts, coordinate technical assistance to Vermont farms, and manage the Vermont Pay for Performance program, which provides conservation payments to farms to reduce phosphorus losses.

The role involves data management, farm outreach, field assessments across the state, and collaboration with farmers and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, environmental conservation, or related field with 2+ years experience, or Associate’s degree with 4+ years experience, or High School diploma with 6+ years experience.
• Experience with grant and contract management.
• Knowledge of agricultural conservation practices and nutrient management planning.
• Proficiency with GIS/mapping software and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently, communicate clearly with diverse audiences, and manage data effectively.

Responsibilities

• Administer grants and contracts and coordinate technical assistance to Vermont farms.
• Manage the Vermont Pay for Performance program, which provides conservation payments to farms to reduce phosphorus losses.
• Perform data management and farm outreach across the state.
• Conduct field assessments and collaborate with farmers and partners; hybrid position with occasional farm visits.
