City of New York is seeking an Associate Chemist II to join Hawthorne Laboratory in the Water Quality division. The role involves routine laboratory analysis of drinking water and environmental samples, instrument calibration, and preparation of standards, reagents, and SOPs.

Under supervision, you'll ensure QC, EH&S compliance, and accurate record keeping. Responsibilities include data handling in STARLIMS, tool calibration, method development support, and maintaining inventory to ensure

• Perform routine analytical samples accurately and precisely
• Perform instrument calibration and maintenance
• Familiarity with data compilation protocols, including use of data reporting programs and LIMS such as STARLIMS
• Ensures data entries in notebooks and files of computer output are complete and legible
• Maintain accurate electronic and written records; review data and prepare standards and reagents
• Promptly submits data for review by specified deadline
• Conduct research and investigations as directed by the supervisor
• Prepare method SOPs under the direction of the supervisor
• Prepare and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies
