Job summary

Jefferson Parish is seeking a Water Purification Operator-Helper to operate a major purification plant and perform minor maintenance on equipment. The role requires monitoring pumps, motors, tanks, analyzers, and related systems to meet regulatory standards.

The position works on rotating shifts and is considered an essential emergency duty. Preference is given to candidates with a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Parish, as driving a Parish vehicle may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Jefferson Parish employment with permanent civil service status as a Water Purification Operator-Helper.
• Career/technical diploma or certificate required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor a Water Purification Plant and related equipment to ensure regulatory standards.
• Perform minor mechanical/maintenance tasks as needed.
• Respond to adverse operating conditions promptly and safely.
