The City of Plano seeks dependable, hard-working individuals to join our team as a Water Pump Station Operator in the Pumping Facilities Department. Our team works 24/7 to keep things running smoothly from our Ridgeview Pump Station (located near Ridgeview Dr. and Custer Rd.).
The ideal candidate will play a key part in operating and monitoring our SCADA system, which helps manage four (4) pump stations, six (6) lift stations, and ten (10) water towers. The ideal candidate will receive and dispatch after-hours service calls for various city departments (except police, fire, and animal services).

The preferred candidates will have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in operating SCADA and at least four (4) years working in the pumping (Water Utilities) and wastewater field. You will need a Class (C) Water Distribution license.
The Pump Station Operator I position requires at least one (1) year of experience in operating SCADA and at least two (2) years working in the pumping (Water Utilities) and wastewater field. The ideal candidate will need a Class (C) Water Distribution license.
The Pump Station Operator II position requires at least three (3) years of experience in operating SCADA/pump station operations. The ideal candidate will need a Class (C) Water Distribution license and a Wastewater Collection II license (or better).
The Senior Pump Station Operator position requires at least five (5) years of experience in operating SCADA/pump station operations. You will need a Class (B) Water Distribution Operator license and a Wastewater Collections II license (or better).
The Pumping Facilities Department is smaller and works four (4) days on and three (3) days off.
There are two positions available with one of the following schedules: Wednesday and Thursday 12:00 AM—8:00 AM and Friday and Saturday 12:00 AM—12:00 PM. The second position's schedule is yet to be determined but will include nights and weekends. Overtime is available to cover other shifts.
The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Water Pump Station Operator I, Water Pump Station Operator II or the Senior Water Pump Station Operator classification. The range for the Water Pump Station Operator I is $20.74 - $24.89 per hour; for the Water Pump Station Operator II: $22.86 – $27.44 per hour; and for the Senior Water Pump Station Operator is $25.21 - $31.51.
