Job summary

HDR is seeking a Project Engineer for its Water Business Group in Bend, Oregon. You will work on a variety of water and wastewater projects, prepare design calculations, and coordinate with multiple offices to deliver high‑quality outcomes for clients and communities.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree and a PE license, with the ability to work independently within a collaborative, employee-owned culture that values innovation, safety, and sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license is required.
  • Experience executing water-focused technical studies, analyses, and/or designing plans for water projects.
  • Ability to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead projects related to water, wastewater, and/or water resource management.
  • Prepare design calculations, cost estimates, technical reports, and engineering plans with precision.
  • Analyze data and present findings in professional reports, memos, and client-presentations.
  • Take initiative and work independently while collaborating with Project Managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Lead portions of design work and ensure high-quality deliverables meeting standards.
  • Assist with permitting applications and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with team members across offices to keep projects on track.
