They will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable water to our community.
Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications is: Graduation from high school.
AND
Two years of increasingly responsible experience performing water system maintenance, operations, or related duties within a water division of a municipality, special district, or utility.

Based on the information provided in the application and other required materials, the most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process, which may include a written exam, performance test, oral interview, and/or other assessment method.
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment process for this recruitment will be placed on an eligible list, which will remain in effect for at least one year or until an insufficient number of candidates remain on the list.
Current City of Fullerton employees may be given preference during testing and/or selection.
Employment offers are conditional upon the successful completion of a background check. The background check will include fingerprinting, verified by the State of California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Certain positions may require a more extensive background check and/or a medical examination conducted by the City’s designated physician at the City’s expense. Medical examinations assess an individual’s ability to meet the physical requirements of the position. Additionally, all new hires and employees appointed to safety-sensitive classifications must undergo a drug screening.
An appointee will serve a 12-month probationary period. Regular City employees promoted to this position will serve a 6-month probationary period.
