Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Water Treatment and Reclamation Engineer to own UPW processes and lead cross‑functional teams for safe, reliable operations in Austin. You will manage multi-project portfolios, drive commissioning efforts, and implement improvements across the water systems.

In this role, you collaborate with operations to optimize performance, troubleshoot critical UPW issues, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to sustainability and plant resilience.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical/Mechanical/Environmental/Process or Industrial Engineering.
• 6+ years of engineering experience in an environment, preferably design or operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of ultrapure water treatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete project management of multiple UPW projects from initiation to completion.
• Lead commissioning activities and advise contractors and the internal team on issues.
• Monitor daily trends, inspect equipment, and coordinate with OPS on work orders and improvements.
• Support plant operations by developing and implementing process improvements.
• Own the entire system scope and projects with accountability.
• Troubleshoot UPW system issues and baseline shifts.
• Research and develop innovative technologies to improve UPW quality and reliability.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers to grow their knowledge and skills.
• Lead cross-functional task forces to improve practices and processes.
• Review SOPs, PLC changes, and operations sequences to drive improvements.

Position Summary

Guided by a belief in extensive data analysis and a commitment to collaborative global relationships, the WTR (Water Treatment and Reclamation) is responsible for providing continuous, safe and high quality utilities to our Fab. At our water and wastewater plants on the Samsung Semiconductor campus, our Operations teams’ drive for sustainability and operational excellence is balanced by our need to adopt tomorrow’s technologies to ensure plant resilience, environmental stewardship, and the safety of our staff.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

• Complete project management of multiple projects across the UPW systems.
• Participates and leads some of the commissioning activities, and provides subject matter expertise to contractors and the internal team for any commissioning or construction related issues.
• Monitor daily trends, perform equipment inspections, and coordinate with OPS regarding work orders and process improvement projects.
• Meet the needs of our operators by supporting and collaborating with the plant operations team to develop and implement process improvements
• Execute complete ownership and accountability of the entire system scope and projects.
• Proactively troubleshoot critical UPW system issues and/or baseline shifts.
• Research and develop new innovative technologies to improve UPW quality and reliability; plan, request and implement improvements
• Support of instrumentation, maintenance, and operations groups in day-to-day tasks.
• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to develop their knowledge, talent and skills.
• Lead facilities wide task-force teams to develop more efficient practices and processes.
• Be a visible presence in facilities wide meetings.
• Creation and development of structured step plans process for work execution of process improvement and repair work.
• Review SOPs, PLC programming changes, SOOs (sequence of operations), and other administrative task .
• Lead system-wide trend analysis and use that analysis to drive system. improvements.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Process or Industrial Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in an Engineering environment, preferably within Design or Operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes.
• Advanced knowledge of ultrapure water treatment systems.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
