Amherst County Service Authority is hiring a Water Plant Operator, Class II, to join our water treatment and distribution team in Amherst/Madison Heights, VA. Starting pay is $55,918+ and commensurate with experience.

The role includes operating the treatment plant, testing water, and maintaining records to ensure regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has at least two years of water plant experience, a Virginia Class II license, a high school diploma or GED, and First Aid/CPR certification

Qualifications

• Requires Virginia Water Treatment Operator Class II license.
• Two years of water plant operations experience.
• First Aid/CPR within one year.
• Virginia driver’s license.
• Education: wastewater/water treatment coursework.

Responsabilités

• Operate the water treatment plant to meet regulatory standards.
• Adjust raw and finished water flows to meet system demand.
• Collect and test water samples; document lab results.
• Monitor gauges, meters, equipment, and treatment processes.
• Adjust chemical feed equipment; monitor chemical supplies.
• Safely unload, store, and handle treatment chemicals.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, and equipment.
• Maintain daily shift operation logs and document laboratory results.
• Perform wastewater treatment duties as needed.
• Perform buildings and grounds maintenance.
• Assist with traffic control and other duties as needed.
