Job summary

The Water Plant Operator I position at City of Azle is a trainee role supporting the primary operator in producing potable water. You’ll perform duties related to plant operation and maintenance under licensed supervision, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

As you advance, Operator II/III requirements apply. The City offers health, dental, disability and life insurance, Texas Municipal Retirement System with 2:1 city match, telehealth, and vacation after six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; valid Texas Driver's License.
• Must obtain Class D Surface Water Treatment Operator License within first year and Class C within two years.
• Willingness to pursue required certifications for license upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Assist the primary shift operator in producing potable water.
• Under supervision, operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment.
• Record routine water quality data and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Monitor plant performance and communicate with city staff and public.
• Assist with custodial and lawn care duties as needed.
