Job summary

American Water is seeking personnel to operate and maintain water purification systems, ensuring safe and compliant processes. The role involves daily monitoring, control adjustments, and collaborative problem solving with maintenance teams.

Ideal candidates will have SCADA experience, technical coursework in environmental science, and the ability to obtain Waterworks Certification within a few years.

Qualifications

Knowledge of water purification processes and regulatory standards.
Experience with SCADA and automated control systems.
Be able to obtain Waterworks Operator Certification within 1–3 years.
Valid PA driver's license and reliable communication skills.
Bachelor or technical coursework in environmental science is preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate, maintain and repair plant equipment with preventive tasks.
Control flow through purification and distribution systems.
Calibrate chemical dosages for process optimization and safety.
Monitor water plant and distribution systems; adjust controls.
Recordkeeping and reporting on compliance and performance.
Support emergency procedures and coordinate with team.
