City of Grand Rapids is seeking a highly skilled supervisor for its water filtration facility operations, maintenance, and asset management. The role reports to the Water Plant Supervisor and oversees skilled trades and related activities at a 135MGD facility.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, safety compliance, performance reviews, budgeting support, and customer/public inquiries. A related degree and several years of experience are required, with opportunities for system

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Public Administration or related field.
• Three (3) years of related work experience.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Responsabilités

• Plans, organizes, prioritizes, coordinates, schedules, assigns and evaluates the work of subordinates; provides training and counseling as needed; handles complaints and grievances; takes disciplinary actions.
• Supervises and directs the operation and maintenance of city owned and operated facilities, as required. Schedules and prioritizes work to assure efficient operation and proper maintenance.
• Assures that proper safety and environmental standards are followed.
• Inspects work being performed and oversees its proper completion.
• Conducts employee evaluations, responds to complaints and grievances, and takes disciplinary action when necessary.
• Maintains records and logs, prepares reports related to the work; ensures supplies and equipment are available; maintains inventory.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and expenditure of funds; participates in system modifications and oversees special projects.
• Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public and utility customers; provides technical assistance as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
