Virgin-Islands-Water- General Maintenance Worker 2nd Class is hired under general supervision to perform repair and maintenance on water plant equipment and machinery. The role includes inspection, repair, maintenance and installation of water plant components.

Because the Authority serves the public 24 hours per day, overtime may be required on short notice during emergencies or unusual conditions. A High School diploma and two years of water plant maintenance experience are required.

Qualificações

• High School diploma or equivalent with relevant trades courses.
• Two years of experience in water plant maintenance work.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid VI driver's license.

Responsabilidades

• Maintains and repairs water distribution system.
• Inspects water mains, meters and valves to detect leaks.
• Replaces damaged pipe sections and seal joints; repairs and maintains pumps.
• Operates compactor, jumping jack and/or elephant foot for backfill material for pipelines and road repairs.
• Drills and threads holes in water mains for service connections, using hand powered tapping tool.
