Job summary

The City of Seattle is offering a Water Pipe Worker Apprenticeship through Seattle Public Utilities. This two-year program combines 4000 hours of paid on-the-job training with unpaid classroom instruction, leading to journey level Water Pipe Workers.

Start dates are anticipated no sooner than late February 2027. Apprentices must meet program requirements, attend mandatory classes, maintain a CDL, and work across multiple sites (OCC, NOC, Lake Youngs, and Tolt).

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent educational credential, or a vocational school degree.
• Willingness to learn and good attendance are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform demanding and physically challenging tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Operate hand and power tools and maintain water mains.
• Follow extensive safety procedures and regulations.
