Job summary

The City of Seattle’s Seattle Public Utilities invites candidates to apply for Water Pipe Worker Apprentice positions. This paid two-year program combines 4000 hours of on-the-job training with classroom instruction, culminating in a journey-level role in water distribution.

Applicants must be 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. CDL preparation and safety training are included.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Apply basic pipefitting and hydraulic principles.
• Operate hand and power tools including wrenches and pumps.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations.
• Drive large CDL vehicles and inspect for maintenance.
• Install and maintain water mains and services.
• Excavate and backfill trenches and set up safe work zones.
