Job summary

The City of Katy is seeking a dedicated Water Operator to join our Public Works team. This position supports the water treatment and distribution systems, monitors wells and treatment processes, and performs repairs and inspections to ensure safe drinking water for our community.

Ideal candidates have hands-on water utility experience, a commitment to public service, and the ability to respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two (2) years of water utility training and experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Knowledge of water distribution and production systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and maintains wells; verifies proper operation and chlorination levels.
• Repairs water mains, service lines, hydrants, and meters as needed.
• Performs service calls for leaks and assists customers.
• Operates water treatment plant and monitors chlorine disinfection.
