Job summary

The City of Corona is seeking Water Operator I/II/III to operate, maintain, and monitor the city's water production, treatment, and distribution systems. This role blends fieldwork with technical tasks to ensure residents have safe, reliable water daily.

Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, sampling water quality, and responding to system issues, while pursuing required certifications and licenses under supervision in a dynamic, growth-oriented department.

Qualifications

• Water Operator I: experience in distribution/treatment operations desired.
• Water Operator II: 1 year experience in potable water production, treatment, with direct filtration, ion exchange, GAC, desalination operations, storage, transmission, and/or blending.
• Water Operator III: 2 years of progressively responsible experience in distribution/treatment with similar processes.
• Valid California Driver’s License required.
• Within 12 months: D2 Water Distribution and T1 Water Treatment certificates; within 18 months: D3 and T2 and T3 certificates as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and monitor water production, treatment, and distribution systems.
• Inspect equipment, perform water quality sampling, and respond to system issues with professionalism.

Education
