Job summary

City of Jerome in Jerome, Idaho, seeks a part-time Public Works role within the Public Works Department to perform a range of water maintenance and related tasks. The position runs 29 hours per week and requires the ability to respond promptly and operate light equipment and tools.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and relevant water operational experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; an Idaho OIT license is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in performing various water operational semi-skilled maintenance or construction tasks preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of Idaho OIT (Operator in Training) License or ability to obtain with a Water I license preferred; must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Installs, renews, and/or repairs water mains and service lines.
• Assist with maintenance of the irrigation system.
• Keeps a log of shift operations.
• Operation of light equipment and backhoe, dump truck, and other equipment as needed.
• Inspect and service equipment before operation.
• Under supervision, performs Water Distribution Maintenance as needed.
