Job summary

The Village of Antioch invites qualified applicants for Water Operator I or II, based on qualifications (DOQ). This role maintains the Village's water, sewer and collection systems, with diverse duties across treatment and distribution operations.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, meter work, hydrant flushing, and sewer tasks. Overtime, on-call duties, and weekend coverage may be required. CDL license required or obtainable within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Illinois driver's license is required.
• Possession of a Class B CDL with Air Brakes Endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor up to 100 lbs.
• Knowledge of IEPA/EPA requirements for water/sewer operations.

Responsibilities

• General water-system and treatment-equipment maintenance.
• Check pumps, wells, collection systems, and lift stations.
• Perform chemical treatment and sampling activities.
• Fire hydrant maintenance and flushing; quarterly tower draining.
