Job summary

The City of Beloit has an employment opportunity in the Water Resources Division of the Department of Public Works for an Equipment Operator- Wastewater. The role involves semi-skilled manual labor for maintaining sanitary and storm water systems, and may include assisting with bio-solids recycling operations and operating land application equipment.

The position also supports construction and maintenance of sanitary sewer, wastewater treatment, storm water and drinking water facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Class A CDL with the “N” tank endorsement is preferred.
• One year of responsible work experience, preferably in public works or utility systems.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for performing semi-skilled manual labor either as an individual or in a team for the maintenance of the sanitary and storm water collection systems. Position also assists in construction and maintenance of various sanitary sewer, wastewater treatment, storm water and public drinking water facilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. High School Diploma or equivalent


2. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record


3. Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)


4. Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the “N” tank vehicle endorsement is preferred


5. A minimum of one (1) year of responsible work experience, with experience in construction and maintenance of public works or utility systems preferred.


6. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered
