City of Deltona is seeking a Water Operator for Deltona Water to monitor and operate treatment processes, collect samples, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. This role requires hands-on participation with SCADA systems, gauges, meters, and chemical rooms, with a focus on safety and reliability.
Starting pay varies by license level, from entry Operator I to Operator III, with schedules including a 36-hour workweek and comprehensive benefits.

Licensed Operator Anticipated Hiring Rate of Pay (Depending on Qualifications):
The purpose of this job/class within the organization is to collect and analyse water compliance samples according to state and federal laws. This job/class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Monitors and operates gauges, meters and control panels; controls variations and operating conditions of the treatment process; records meter and gauge headings. Monitors SCADA system and sends commands via radio signal to make adjustments at water plants. Operates and maintains valves, motors, pumps and engines either manually or by remote control; monitors and adjusts plant operations manually or by computer. Cleans and maintains all aspects of the water treatment process, including the ground storage tanks, aerators, filters, pump, well and chemical rooms. Extracts samples and conducts routine laboratory tests; documents and certifies test results. Conducts change-out of chemical containers and associated equipment as needed. Check chloramine residuals onsite and conducts analyzer comparisons with hand-held meters. Also calibrates chlorine analyzers. Conducts scheduled plant inspections, certifying completion of such inspections in the facility check sheets and logbooks. Ensures that plant facilities and grounds are kept clean, neat and orderly.
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
Licensed Operators require one year of experience in water testing, operations, or closely related experience.
