Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection seeks an Administrative Project Manager for the Deputy Director, Water Operations - North, reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, Drinking Water Operations. The role oversees operations across two regions, directing multiple technical groups and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in design, graphic arts, the visual arts, marketing, computer science, or digital media from an accredited college; or
• An associate’s degree in design, graphic arts, the visual arts, marketing, computer science, or digital media from an accredited college, and two years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a designer, commercial artist, or graphic artist; or
• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus two years of fulltime education at an approved trade or technical school in design, graphic arts, the visual arts, marketing, or digital media plus two years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a designer, commercial artist, or graphic artist; or
• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus four years of acceptable full-time paid experience as a designer, commercial artist, or graphic artist; or
• A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to each preceding option; substitutions apply for experience as described above.

Responsibilities

• Managing over 200 employees geographically dispersed throughout the NYC Watershed.
• Managing the Delaware and Catskill Water Operations Divisions ensuring all critical infrastructure is properly operated, maintained, and managed.
• Managing system shutdowns and capital projects in the assigned area of operations.
• Managing and directing numerous technical groups.
• In the absence of the Assistant Commissioner, may perform the duties of that position, as delegated.
• Providing direction and guidance to staff responsible for operation and maintenance of all water treatment systems in Water Operations - North.
• Performing periodic reviews of the PM program data to evaluate performance and plan for capital budgeting.
• Ensuring Catskill and Delaware aqueducts supplies meet federal/state water quality parameters.
