Job summary

City of New York seeks a Deputy Commissioner for the Bureau of Water & Sewer Operations to lead operations, maintenance, and capital planning for NYC's water and sewer systems.

The role reports to the COO and oversees divisions including Operations, Engineering & Planning, Environmental Health & Safety, and Digital Transformation, ensuring the highest quality potable water and reliable drainage infrastructure.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, construction, urban planning, business administration, or public administration.

Responsibilities

• Oversee water and sewer repairs and maintenance; develop capital projects for in-city water mains and sewer systems.
• Manage the Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations divisions: Operations, Engineering & Planning, Environmental Health & Safety, and Business Operations, Core Services, and Digital Transformation.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws; guide long-range policy and capital commitment plans for NYC water and sewer infrastructure.
