Job summary

The City of Worcester is seeking an Assistant Storekeeper for the Water Operations Division within the Department of Public Works. This role involves handling purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and purchasing contracts, as well as receiving, storing, distributing, inventorying and controlling water supplies and materials.

The position operates on a shift rotation, with regular night shifts, weekends, and potential overtime. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Basic arithmetic and mathematical ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel).
• Strong computer skills including data entry and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain records, files, reports, work orders, charge memos and service returns.
• Answer telephone and respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
• Communicate via radio with field crews to provide job-related information.
• Enter, edit and update data in computerized work order system.
• Complete inventory counts on stock items in the water operations division.
• Manage the receipt, storage and distribution of water supplies and materials.
• Ensure all supplies match purchase orders and keep a record of all items.
• Perform manual and clerical duties in the office.
• Occasionally pick up parts or supplies from a vendor or supplier and bring to a job site.
