Job summary

The City of Friendswood is seeking a full-time Meter Technician in the Public Works Department. This position reads and maintains water meters, connects and disconnects water service, and ensures accurate billing and customer satisfaction.

• 0-3 years of related experience.
• Preference for experience with a City, County or State.
• Class C Texas Driver's License.
• Ability to obtain Class C Water Distribution License within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Read and maintain water meters.
• Connect and disconnect water service.
• Complete work orders including leaks, new connects, finals, re-reads, and customer communication.
• Inspect meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized.
• Troubleshoot AMI hardware.
• Train new personnel to read meters and maintain meters and AMI.
• Perform duties within the area of responsibility.
