Job summary

Allegiant Utility Services, LLC is seeking a water meter technician to perform removal and replacement of meters, meter testing, and related field tasks. You will work from work orders, manage meter inventory, and collaborate with utility staff and customers.

Travel and overnight stays are required periodically. A high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills are essential. The role offers a company vehicle and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Remove old water meter/register and install new unit.
• Perform water meter change outs per established procedures.
• Process work orders and maintain inventory of meters.
• Work with utility personnel and customers; use company truck responsibly.
• Travel and overnight stays as part of work schedule.

Allegiant Utility Services is a world class utility service organization that has been providing meter installation, meter testing and meter sales to Rural Electric Cooperatives and Municipalities for over 25 years. We also cater to electric cooperatives, city municipalities, and a variety of other businesses such as recreational vehicle parks and retirement communities. Allegiant installs primarily electric and water meters also, inspects and tests commercial electric meters through its field service divisions.Duties and core responsibilities include the following:Removal of old water meter/register with the re-installation of a new water meter/registerPerforms water meter change outs per a specified mannerConduct work through a Work Order systemManage all inventory of new and old metersWorking with utility personnel and utility consumers.Responsible use of a company truckPerform other responsibilities as assigned or required.Requirements:High School diploma or equivalentMust complete a background check & drug screeningMust have a valid driver's licenseMust have firm understanding of mechanical and water meter principlesMust have computer skills including the ability to operate a PC, mobile handheld applications, email, and navigation systemsMust maintain a professional manner and have strong communication skills to communicate effectively with the public, utility and internal teamsIndividual must be willing and able to travel and stay overnight four to five weeks of their work scheduleThe employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to sit, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is constantly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls.
