Southern Cross, LLC is seeking a Meter Technician to inspect, paint, and maintain natural gas meter sets. This full-time role provides support for technical operations in pipeline maintenance and utility services, involving manual labor and specialized equipment.

Starting pay is $22.00 per hour with automatic increases of $0.50 at 60 and 180 days, and a comprehensive benefits package is available. Work is typically Monday–Friday, first shift, with potential overtime depending on project needs.

Qualifications

  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
  • Construction/utilities experience is a plus but not required.
  • Good senses of sight, hearing, smell, and color identification.
  • Flexibility for overtime and weekends.
  • Commitment to safety and adhering to safety regulations.
  • Physical requirements include bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking several miles daily.

Responsibilities

  • Work a route to complete meter painting and compliance orders in a timely manner and in accordance with training and procedures.
  • Stoop, bend, crawl, walk, climb ladders, and lift weights up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of utility infrastructure such as pipelines and meters.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload vehicles with materials and equipment, ensuring proper handling and securing of items.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies at all times.
  • Recognize abnormal operating conditions and report to the supervisor.
  • Assist in regular inspections for Atmospheric Corrosion on meters.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel to different job sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
