PositionSummary

TheWaterMeterReplacementTechnicianremovesandinstallssmall-diameterresidentialwatermeters,typicallyrangingfrom5/8inchto1inch.Thispositionsupportsthemodernizationofutilityinfrastructurebyreplacingmanual-readmeterswithAdvancedMeteringInfrastructure(AMI)orAutomatedMeterReading(AMR)technology.Thisisahigh-volume,field-basedrolerequiringefficiency,attentiontodetail,mechanicalability,accuratedataentry,andprofessionalinteractionwithcustomers.

KeyResponsibilities

• Removeexistingresidentialwatermetersandinstallnewhigh-accuracymeters.
• Ensuremetersareproperlyaligned,correctlyoriented,andconnectedwithoutleaks.
• Completetherequirednumberofmeterreplacementspershiftwhilemaintainingsafety,accuracy,andquality.
• Recordmeterserialnumbers,finalreadingsfromremovedmeters,andinitialreadingsfromnewlyinstalledmeters.
• Usehandheldtablets,GPS-enableddevices,andmobilework-ordersoftwaretodocumentcompletedwork.
• Performpressureandleaktestsafterinstallationtoconfirmthatwaterservicehasbeensafelyrestored.
• Identifyandreportissuessuchasleakingvalves,corrodedpipes,damagedmeterboxes,orobstructedaccess.
• Cleanmeterboxes,securelyreplacelids,andleavesurroundingpropertyinitsoriginalcondition.
• Maintainahighlevelofdata-entryaccuracybecausemeterinformationdirectlyaffectscustomerbilling.
• Notifyresidentsprofessionallybeforetemporarilyshuttingoffwaterservice.
• Answerbasiccustomerquestionsaboutthemeter-upgradeprocess.
• Maintainacleanuniform,vehicle,tools,andworkarea.
• Followallcompanysafetypoliciesandwearrequiredpersonalprotectiveequipment.
• Performotherrelateddutiesasassigned.

Qualifications

• Validdriver’slicensewithacleandrivingrecordrequired.
• Constructionorutilityexperiencepreferred.
• Basicknowledgeofresidentialplumbingsystems,water-serviceconfigurations,andbackflowpreventionpreferred.
• Mechanicalaptitudeandexperienceusinghandtools,includingpipewrenches,tongue-and-groovepliers,andwiresnips.
• Abilitytoworkwithcopper,PVC,galvanizedsteel,andothercommonpipingmaterials.
• AbilitytooperateGPS-enabledhandhelddevices,tablets,andwork-ordermanagementsoftware.
