Bermex, Inc. is seeking a Water Meter Installer to support outdoor meter maintenance, readings, and data entry. The role emphasizes reliability, safety, and customer interactions in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities include inspecting meters, recording readings, and assisting with AMI/AMR upgrades, all while maintaining timely field operations and strong communication with customers and team members.

Competenze

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be able to walk long distances outdoors in variable conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • 1 year or more with same employer preferred; training provided for shorter periods.

About the Role

The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Operations Manager at Bermex. This position plays a key role in water meter maintenance and measurement. This position also requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day.

What You'll Do
Water Meter Maintenance
  • Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks
  • Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
  • Properly change out water meters of varying sizes and brands
  • Properly change out water meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade
Water Meter Reading
  • Read water meters
  • Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer
  • Assist on additional projects, as necessary
Customer Communication
  • Refer all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
  • Provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable
  • Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate
Other duties as assigned

About You Must Haves
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
Experience
  • 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working, employees will be trained.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
Nice to Have
  • 1 or more years of experience in the direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes.
Your Skills
  • Ability to multi-task, and work independently and as a team.
  • Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling.
  • Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends.
  • Adequate time management skills to finish daily meter reads in a timely manner, figuring out an efficient way to read meters for that day.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers.
  • Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding.
  • Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Place a high value on safety, quality of work, and operational procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS systems and principles is required.

  • Are not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule or routine

Drug/Alcohol Testing

Drug/alcohol testing is required. Drug/alcohol testing required per Non-Regulatory requirements for employees working with water, electric, and meters. Drug/alcohol testing required per Federal DOT regulations for employees working with gas meters.

Where We Work

Employees will begin their day at the local office where they will pick up their company vehicle, equipment, and assignments for the day.
