Qualifications

• General knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in the installation, maintenance and reading of meters and recording consumption.
• General knowledge of the geography and street locations of the City and Carteret County generally
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining water and utility meters and recording readings.
• Effectively handling customer complaints while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent customer service ratings.
• Initiating and terminating utility services.
• Inspecting, removing, and replacing meters as needed.
• Processing all service orders in a timely manner.
• Restoring and terminating utility services as necessary.
• Maintain records of meter readings and report all inaccessible meters.
• Verifying that meters, visible plumbing, and connections are correctly installed and functioning properly, reporting any malfunctions, defects and/or leaks.
• Cleaning out meter boxes and performing general landscape maintenance as needed.
• Servicing and maintaining main valves throughout the City.
