Job summary

The Cullman County Commission is seeking a Line Maintenance Technician for the Water Department to perform routine manual labor in maintaining county waterlines, meters, valves, hydrants, and related infrastructure in Cullman, Alabama. Candidates must have basic plumbing knowledge, a valid driver’s license, good reading skills, and the ability to work non-standard hours.

This is a safety-sensitive role requiring pre-employment drug testing and random tests during employment.

Qualifications

• Reading skills to comprehend instructions, manuals, maps, etc.
• Must have valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to perform strenuous physical exertion.
• Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and interact with the public in a pleasant manner.
• Must be able to work non-standard hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine manual labor in the upkeep of County Waterlines, including installation of waterlines, meters, valves, hydrants, etc.
• May be assigned meter reading duties.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the department.
