Job summary

Knoxville Utilities Board is seeking an engineer to design capital improvement projects for water and wastewater systems and to prepare plans, bid documents, and estimates. The role requires collaboration with crews, customers, contractors, and permitting agencies while updating KUB standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • 1–3 years of demonstrated experience in related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate policies, procedures, and objectives effectively.
  • General knowledge of or ability to learn AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Design capital improvement projects for water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review construction plans, bid documents, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with construction crews, customers, contractors, permitting agencies, and KUB departments.
  • Develop and update KUB standards and specifications.
  • Provide technical training and support to KUB employees as needed.
