Job summary

Civil Science seeks a Water Infrastructure Practice Leader to establish and direct our firmwide water infrastructure practice. This senior role focuses on building teams, growing client relationships, and delivering critical water projects across the region.

You will lead technical delivery, drive business development, mentor the next generation of engineers, and unify water expertise across offices and disciplines to shape strategic direction and expand water services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in water infrastructure engineering and project management.
• Demonstrated success leading municipal water infrastructure projects from planning through construction.
• Strong client relationship management and business development experience.
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and build technical capabilities.
• Experience with water transmission and distribution systems, storage facilities, source development, hydraulic modeling, and master planning.
• Experience with utility coordination and underground infrastructure and with project and financial management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and expansion of Civil Science's water infrastructure practice.
• Create and execute growth strategies for water transmission, distribution, storage, source development, treatment, and utility infrastructure services.
• Build and strengthen relationships with municipal agencies, utility districts, irrigation entities, and other public-sector clients.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, proposals, and strategic partnerships.
• Support revenue growth and establish a sustainable project backlog.
• Serve as the firm's technical authority for water infrastructure projects.
• Provide expert guidance on water transmission pipelines, distribution systems, storage facilities, source development, hydraulic modeling, and system planning.
• Deliver innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Ensure quality, risk management, and technical excellence across all projects.
• Lead planning, design, and execution of complex municipal water infrastructure projects.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, profitability, and client satisfaction.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams across offices and disciplines.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders.
• Lead the firm's Water Expertise Group and foster collaboration across offices.
• Mentor engineers, project managers, and technical specialists.
• Develop training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Help recruit, retain, and develop top water infrastructure talent.

Job description

Water Infrastructure Practice Leader to establish and lead our firmwide water infrastructure practice. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a seasoned water professional who is passionate about building teams, growing client relationships, and delivering critical water infrastructure projects that serve communities throughout the region.

As the Water Infrastructure Practice Leader, you will provide technical leadership, support project delivery, drive business development, and unify water expertise across multiple offices and disciplines. You will help shape the strategic direction of our water services while mentoring the next generation of engineering leaders.

While the primary focus of this role is water infrastructure, candidates with experience in wastewater systems, stormwater infrastructure, drainage, and integrated utility planning are highly desired. Civil Science anticipates continued growth in water, sewer, and drainage services, and this leader will play a key role in shaping that expansion.

What You'll Do

Practice Leadership & Growth

• Lead the development and expansion of Civil Science's water infrastructure practice.
• Create and execute growth strategies for water transmission, distribution, storage, source development, treatment, and utility infrastructure services.
• Build and strengthen relationships with municipal agencies, utility districts, irrigation entities, and other public-sector clients.
