Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Business Development Manager with water and wastewater experience to drive growth in regional public, private, and industrial markets.

You will collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Estimating and Field teams to develop and execute regional BD strategies, pursue capture plans, and lead the proposal process from inception to submission. Travel and strong networking are essential.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent; Engineering or Construction Management is a plus.
• At least 5 years in water infrastructure programs and strategic business development.
• Solid understanding of CMAR, Design Build, and P3 delivery methods.
• Proposal development and creative writing skills are a plus.
• Strong work ethic, organization, and results-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains relationships with regional public, private, and industrial clients, consultants, and other key regional stakeholders.
• In collaboration with regional Operations teams, develops and leads business development strategy.
• Investigates client needs and project drivers and discusses relevant business challenges.
• Leads the Go/No-Go decision-making process for pursuits.
• Leads the proposal process from capture planning to submission/interview.
• Demonstrates leadership in the water market by engaging in associations and conferences.
• Leads regional/industry marketing and branding plans with corporate marketing staff.
• Develops understanding of regional trends and competition.
• Works with Garney Marketing, Estimating, and Operations to execute strategies.
• Documents prospect activity in Garney CRM (Cosential/Unanet).
• Manages time to focus on highest priority activities aligned with strategy.
