Job summary

YMCA Crystal Lake is seeking an energetic aquatic fitness instructor to lead water exercise classes with a personalized approach, following YMCA guidelines and protocols.

You will prepare progressive exercise plans, teach proper form, and provide safe alternatives. Responsibilities include setting up equipment, recording attendance, reporting issues, and supporting lifeguards in emergencies while maintaining current certifications.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certifications required.
• Ability to demonstrate and explain safe exercise techniques.
• Physical ability to assist and rescue participants when needed.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:Instructs and coaches groups and individuals participating in water exercise classes.Scope of Responsibilities: Leads water fitness classes with a personalized approach following YMCA guidelines and protocols. Prepares progressive exercise plans for program participants. Gives clear explanations of safe exercises and demonstrates correct form. Provides safe alternate exercises when needed. Sets up facility or equipment and stores at the completion of class. Reports equipment problems. Records and maintains attendance records. Acts as a primary responder in case of injury, accident, or illness in pool area and provides backup to lifeguards as needed in emergencies and crowd control. Reports injuries and completes required forms. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. Maintains current certifications. Performs other duties as assigned by Aquatic Director.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities YMCA Swim Lessons or ARC Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certification. Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a 200 lb. person. Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers. Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively.
