YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago seeks an aquatic program instructor to lead group and individual water fitness sessions in Crystal Lake, IL. You will follow YMCA guidelines, tailor progression for participants, and demonstrate safe techniques.
Responsibilities include setting up equipment, maintaining records, and serving as a first responder in emergencies. Qualifications include CPR/First Aid/AED and oxygen certifications, plus physical fitness for rescues.

Leads water fitness classes with a personalized approach following YMCA guidelines and protocols. Prepares progressive exercise plans for program participants. Gives clear explanations of safe exercises and demonstrates correct form. Provides safe alternate exercises when needed. Sets up facility or equipment and stores at the completion of class. Reports equipment problems. Records and maintains attendance records. Acts as a primary responder in case of injury, accident, or illness in pool area and provides backup to lifeguards as needed in emergencies and crowd control. Reports injuries and completes required forms. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. Maintains current certifications. Performs other duties as assigned by Aquatic Director.
YMCA Swim Lessons or ARC Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certification. Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a 200 lb. person. Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers. Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively.
