Job summary

ServiceMaster Restore is seeking a Water and/or Fire Restoration Technician for Alabama locations in Gadsden and Huntsville. The role involves monitoring and completing restoration tasks, documenting progress, and aiding insurance reimbursements.

Requires high school diploma and valid driver's license; restoration experience preferred. Responsibilities include on-site work, fire/smoke restoration tasks, water extraction, and customer communication.

Qualifications

  • Punctual and presentable in uniform.
  • Certifications like FSRT/OCT/WTR/ASD are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Load truck with required equipment and supplies for each job.
  • Explain restoration processes and next steps to customers on-site.
  • Complete assigned jobs per company procedures while maintaining quality and urgency.
  • Perform fire/smoke repair, water extraction, content pack-out, and light construction as directed.
  • Report equipment issues to supervisor and ensure proper handling of tools and vehicles.
  • Inspect completed jobs, obtain customer signatures, and request payments as needed.
  • Adjust drying plans based on meter readings on a daily basis.
  • Resolve customer issues and communicate progress with supervisor and staff.
  • Prepare documentation and photos for insurance reimbursement.

PAY RANGES FROM $16 TO $28 PER HOUR (BASED ON EXPERIENCE)

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN GADSDEN

Position Overview

This job is located for Gadsden, AL and Huntsville, AL. A successful Water and/or Fire Restoration Technician monitors, inspects and completes tasks for restoration jobs to ensure completion of drying, demolition, pack-out of contents and various fire restoration activities. The Restoration Technician prepares and reviews documentation to include notes, photos and documents according to company policies and procedures to ensure reimbursement from insurance companies, as well as explains processes used to complete active jobs and next steps to resolution in person to customers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Retrieves work orders, ensures appropriate equipment and supplies are loaded on truck needed for job, arrives to work site.
  • Explain processes used to complete active jobs and next steps to resolution in person to customers using printed materials as a guide with or without supervisor
  • Completes assigned jobs according to company processes while maintaining quality control on each job with urgency
  • Performs fire/smoke damage repair and tasks to include water extraction, pack-out of contents, removing/disposing of non-salvageable materials, light construction and demolition as directed by supervisor
  • Ensures equipment, supplies, vehicles, and products are properly handled. Reports any equipment malfunction and or damage to supervisor
  • Inspects jobs after completion and obtains customer signatures for approval purposes, and requests payments when necessary
  • Responsible for making daily adjustments to the drying plan based on meter readings

  • Resolves issues with customers, communicates customer issues, daily job activities with supervisor and key company staff
  • Prepares documentation and pictures according to company policies and procedures to ensure reimbursement from insurance companies
Job Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in the restoration or construction industry is preferred, but not required
  • Valid Drivers’ License and satisfactory driving record
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem solving and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of disaster restoration industry
  • Must be able to prioritize activities and meet deadlines
  • Experience with entering data using a tablet or mobile phone
  • Report to work on time in a clean, complete uniform
  • Read and follow product label usage instructions
  • Certifications are preferred, but not required:
    • FSRT – Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician
    • OCT – Odor Control Technician
    • WTR – Water Damage Restoration Technician
    • ASD – Applied Structural Drying Technician
