Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is hiring a Water Field Operations Crew Leader to supervise crews responsible for construction, maintenance, and repair of the city’s water distribution systems.

You will lead teams in the field, manage complex repairs, and ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and regulatory compliance. This is a frontline leadership role with opportunities to grow your career within a major municipal utility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• TCEQ Water Distribution Class C license (or higher).
• Texas Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record.
• Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on water and/or wastewater field operations experience.
• Ability to pass a physical exam, drug screen, and education/background verification.
• Preferred: Experience with work order management software (GIS, Maximo, or similar).
• Preferred: Familiarity with large-scale utility operations and infrastructure systems.
• Preferred: Minimum of one (1) year supervisory or crew leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Crews: provide direction, oversight, and support to field crews performing construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Ensure safe and efficient operations of water systems, complying with standards and policies.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of mains, valves, hydrants, pumps, and taps.
• Monitor work quality to ensure high standards.
• Perform technical tasks related to water systems and guide the crew.
• Provide on-the-job training to meet safety requirements.
• Document operations with detailed records and reports.
• Support emergency response by providing leadership during crises.
