Job summary

San Antonio Water System (SAWS) is seeking a Field Operations Specialist in San Antonio, TX. You will evaluate and resolve complex issues related to water distribution and wastewater collection services, document findings, and coordinate with departments for corrective action.

The role requires investigating suspected abnormal or illegal water/wastewater activity, data verification, and mentoring meter technicians. A valid TX driver’s license and shift flexibility are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Four years’ experience in customer contact including two years investigating suspected abnormal or illegal water, wastewater or utility consumption.
• One year troubleshooting/repairing mechanical equipment.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.
• Ability to work regularly scheduled shifts with overtime/weekend options.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and supports complex investigations of delinquent accounts and suspected water/wastewater theft of service, including field verification beyond the meter set.
• Supports escalated and complex metering and service issues with internal and external customers to determine root cause and recommended resolution.
• Reviews and validates field test results and related documentation to support metering investigations and discrepancies.
• Serves as a subject matter resource and mentor to meter technicians; assists with complex field troubleshooting.
• Participates in metering operations initiatives and projects, including process improvements.
