Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a skilled Water Engineer to oversee the design, construction, and management of water treatment plants in Alexandria, Virginia. The Water Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the availability of potable water by managing water systems, conducting evaluations, and developing strategic plans that incorporate technical, financial, and regulatory factors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrology and water resources, with expertise in water treatment processes, US Safe Drinking Water Act, and OEBGD criteria.

  • Manage and maintain the overall functionality of water systems, ensuring potable water is readily available to communities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive water resource and raw water master plans, addressing technical, financial, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct evaluations and studies for water treatment projects by analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending solutions.
  • Study and evaluate hydrological factors and environmental conditions that may impact current and future water programs and resources.
  • Oversee the design, construction, and operation of water treatment plants, ensuring compliance with all safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop long-term water management strategies, including infrastructure upgrades and system expansions.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and contractors to ensure all water projects are executed in line with local and federal regulations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams during project development and implementation phases.
  • Monitor and assess water quality to ensure it meets national and international standards, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other responsibilities related to water systems management, ensuring efficiency and sustainability in all water treatment processes.

The Profile

  • Must be a licensed Engineer specializing in hydrology and water resources.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the design and construction of water treatment plants.
  • In-depth knowledge of water treatment processes, the US Safe Drinking Water Act, and OEBGD criteria.
  • Willingness to travel to different project sites as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to various project locations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines effectively.
