Job summary

City of Oxnard is seeking a Water Distribution Operator in Training to join the Water Division. This entry-level role operates under close supervision, performing routine tasks related to water distribution, meter readings, and customer service.

Schedule is four 10-hour days with potential standby and overtime as workload demands. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, at least one year of maintenance or customer service experience, and a valid California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of related maintenance and/or repair experience and customer service.
• Valid California Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Takes and records meter readings on assigned routes and reports anomalies.
• Performs basic maintenance and repairs on water system components.
• Lends support in installing water meters and system appurtenances.
• Assists with notices for delinquent accounts and meter locks on delinquent accounts.
• Responds to public inquiries and provides information on procedures and processes.
• Performs general clerical duties and data entry related to meter accounts.
