Job summary

Golden State Water Company is hiring an entry-level Water Distribution Operator I in California. This training-status role operates under supervision, learning to maintain and operate the water distribution system while serving customers and supporting field tasks.

Responsibilities include meter reads, mains work, hydrants, and routine maintenance, with emergency response 24/7 as needed. High school diploma and valid CA driver's license required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Good communication is essential for customer interactions.
• Basic PC skills to perform daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Learns tasks related to maintenance and operation of the water distribution system.
• Learns proper use of tools and equipment required for the job.
• Under supervision, assists in installing, repairing and replacing mains, services, valves, hydrants, and meters.
• Interacts with customers and represents the Company in the field.
• Performs meter reads, on/off reads and field investigations.
• Supports delinquent account collections.
• Participates in routine maintenance such as flushing and valve exercising.
• Follows policies for repair of equipment to keep it in good order.
• Operates company vehicles and equipment per safety policies.
• Available for emergency response 24/7.
• Must reside within 25 miles of assigned boundary to respond to emergencies.
• Works under immediate supervision.
