City of Weslaco seeks a Water Distribution Operator to manage the City’s water distribution system under the Water and Wastewater Superintendent. You will operate heavy equipment and perform installations, repairs, and maintenance of water lines and hydrants.

The role requires 1–3 years of related experience, a valid Class C license, and a commitment to safety. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; drug testing and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of related work experience preferred.
• Pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
• Current valid Class C Driver's License; must be insurable.
• Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first 3 months.

Responsabilités

• Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
• Perform after-hours work as required (nights/weekends).
• Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and EOC.
• Repair water and sewer leaks as necessary.
• Operate backhoe and excavator for water line work.
• Install new service lines for residential/commercial properties.
• Maintain water distribution/pumping system including fire hydrants.
• Perform minor equipment repairs/adjustments.
• Flush fire hydrants as needed.
• Observe safety regulations and report hazards immediately.
